Cowboys fans hoping for a new head coach may have to wait a little longer… Troy Aikman tells TMZ Sports He thinks his former team will stay with him Mike McCarthy In 2025.
With the current Dallas sideline manager’s contract expiring after this season … and his team having slipped to a 5-8 record so far this year – many in Texas are eager to see a new face on the Cowboys. the headset
But, when we caught up with Aikman on Wednesday … he told us he doesn’t believe Mike is going anywhere.
“My gut tells me, right now, he’ll be back,” the Hall of Famer said. “It’s just an assumption on my part, but that’s how I feel right now.”
Aikman seemed to believe that would be the right move, too – telling us that most of Dallas’ 2024 issues “don’t land on Mike McCarthy’s doorstep”.
Ekman said “confusing” offseason roster decisions contributed to the disappointing year — as did injuries … none of which McCarthy could control.
“Mike McCarthy is a hell of a football coach,” Aikman said, “and he’s going to get more opportunities if not really here in Dallas.”
McCarthy has four more games left to prove Aikman right — but they won’t be games by any means … as the last three alone are against Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Washington.
