The groom, who arrived from Dubai with 150 guests, found the missing bride on Instagram in Moga

Deepak, a 24-year-old laborer from Dubai, who returned to Punjab a month ago, donned a bright red turban during his journey from his village Mandyali in Jalandhar district to Moga city on Friday. He was in a car decorated with flowers, ready to bring his bride-to-be home.

Deepak, joined by a procession of more than 150 guests in several vehicles, was set to marry Manpreet Kaur from Moga, whom he met on Instagram. This couple was in a relationship for about three years.

After three years of connecting on Instagram, the couple decided to get married. They arranged for their parents to speak to each other on the phone to finalize the wedding plans.

Deepak, who was to be married on December 6, arrived in Moga on Friday, bringing with him a procession of over 150 guests, as requested by Manpreet and his family. However, on reaching Moga, he found that the bride, Manpreet, was missing, and the venue was no longer available, as reported by The Indian Express.

The groom reached Moga around noon and tried several times to contact Manpreet. Initially, she replied and told him that her relatives would come to lead the procession to the venue. However, by 5 pm, no one had turned up, and she switched off her phone.

According to the report, after waiting for more than five hours, Deepak and his family went to the local police station to file a complaint against Manpreet Kaur and her family.

In his complaint, Deepak said that he lived in Dubai and met Manpreet on Instagram three years ago. They began dating, developed a long-distance relationship, and eventually decided to marry. After talking to their parents on the phone, they fixed the date of the wedding on December 6.

The distressed groom also told the police that Manpreet had claimed to be a lawyer after having a well-paying job in Ferozepur.

Deepak revealed that he had never met Manpreet in person but had seen her pictures on Instagram. He said he told him the wedding venue was “Rose Garden Palace”, but when they reached Moga, they were told that no such venue existed.

The groom also revealed that he had sent Rs 50,000 to Manpreet when she sought help for the wedding expenses.
