Donald Trump is only a day into his presidency and he is already running into new conflicts with the public.
The latest subject of his ire? Bishop Marian Edgar Bude, who was filmed Ask the president “Have mercy on those in our country who are now afraid,” including “gay, lesbian and transgender children,” before telling him at a service at Washington National Cathedral.
in the The Daily Show In the clip above, host Ronnie Chiang gleefully replays footage of Trump looking less than happy during the service.
“New executive order: We’re banning the church,” Chiang says. “Hey Bishop, please! We don’t go to church to listen to speeches about showing mercy to the less fortunate. That’s not what church is for! And Trump was like, ‘I’m only here because I heard there were free crackers and now I’m getting roasted by Tig Notaro.’ He was probably looking at Jesus on the cross and thinking, ‘Both you and me, brother.’
