Robert Brooks The death was reportedly at the hands of New York State corrections workers — and perhaps even more shockingly, some of the officers made six-figure salaries … TMZ has learned.
Brooks — an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in upstate NY — died of asphyxiation due to neck compressions during a Dec. 9 attack by guards and other prison personnel, according to a preliminary autopsy report.
Footage from bodycams worn by staff showed violent attack at Brooks, during which the inmate was brutally beaten while restrained and gagged. Before his death, Brooks was serving a 12-year sentence for first-degree assault.

Per state employee compensation records, obtained by TMZ … eight of the Department of Corrections’ 14 employees make six-figure salaries and the rest are pulling in between $70K and $89K.
Through 2022 or 2023, annual revenue data shows Sgt Glenn Trombley earned $149,185; officer David Kingsley II forfeited $147,745; officer Matthew Galliher fetched $114,375; Sgt Michael Marshaw raised $105,672; officer Christopher Walrath Received $113,969; officer Nicholas Kiefer Earnings $118,151; officer Anthony Farina $142,528 was paid; and the nurse Kyle Dashnow Compensation of $110,087 was awarded.
The other six corrections workers are paid under $100K, but still make a pretty decent living. Here is the 2023 salary list for these officers: Nicholas Anzlone ($87,028), Robert Kessler ($89,248), Michael Fisher ($85,143), With Michael ($88,333), Shia Shoaf ($87,276) and David Walters ($70,423).
A spokesperson for the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision told TMZ … 13 of the employees have been suspended without pay and Farina has resigned.
Meanwhile, the governor of New York Kathy Hochul has given orders to the Commissioner of Corrections. Daniel F. Martuselloto initiate the process of firing the employees involved.
