We caught up with the actor after a major update on Penny and Mangione’s respective New York cases … and Angelina Jolie‘s dad clarifies his thoughts on the much-hyped true-crime story.
As Voight said … Penny should be hailed as a hero, and praised the Marine veteran for having the “guts” to do what he did.
He added … “Holy shit, that’s a big deal. I don’t know if I’ll ever be as brave as him … That guy has done an extraordinary thing. We have heroes.”
As TMZ previously reported, Penny was acquitted After standing trial in the death of a 30-year-old homeless man name Jordan Neelywho was allegedly threatening commuters on a NYC subway before DP fatally choked him.
While Voight was meant to make Penny after his not-guilty verdict, he wasn’t interested in giving Mangione the same time of day. Voight also took a moment to defend the distinction between the two cases … noting “it’s very important that people have some kind of sense of right and wrong.”
