The new president Donald Trump is formally announcing that the United States government will only recognize two genders … and is set to target federal protections for transgender people.
In Trump’s inaugural address from the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, he announced … “From today, it will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two sexes – male and female.”

An executive order aimed at limiting medical care and participation in sporting events for transgender individuals is expected to be issued. An incoming official said that only two genders will be identified on passports and visas Associated Press.

Joe Biden issued an executive order on his first day in office four years ago to protect individuals from discrimination “on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.” Trump intends to undo the action.
In other comments Monday, Trump said he would “repeal the electric vehicle mandate” … and has previously stated his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
