In an Instagram post on Monday, Zito wrote angrily that he was pulled over by NYPD patrol cars in his vintage 1968 Chevelle SS while traveling on a highway in the Bronx on his way to a store on Long Island.
Zito says a female officer told him his Florida license plate was illegal, but Chuck claims he showed her his car registration and insurance card, which matched the plate.
Chuck says he was taken to the 45th Precinct stationhouse in the Throgs Neck neighborhood, where he says he was “booked, fingerprinted and mug shots taken.”
Chuck says he was also placed in a 4×8 cell with 5 other men, but was later moved to another cell and locked in a bench for 4 hours until he was charged with possession of a forged instrument. Released without bail.
He called the experience “one helluva day.”
NYPD sources partially confirmed Chuck’s account, telling TMZ … the patrol trooper pulled Zito over after seeing him behind the wheel of his Chevelle with “dealer plates.” We’re told the officer ran the plate, which turned out to be fake. Then Chuck was arrested for the crime of having a fake license plate.
