Christina Applegate missed filming MS symptoms for Netflix

Christina Applegate revealed her MS diagnosis in 2021.

Christina Applegate missed the early warning signs

Speaking on the Wednesday, December 11 edition of of MeSsy The podcastChristina Applegate told co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler and guest Liz Feldman how she fell for the latter’s set. Dead To Me Should have been a wakeup call.

“I remember falling that day,” the actress said, noting it happened while she was shooting a scene running in a field.

It was not too late – this MS

“I remember you lost your balance a few times when we were shooting the pilot,” Feldman told Applegate.

“It was very hard to figure out,” he explained, “because, you know, I remember one time, it was really late at night.”

Feldman elaborated: “We were probably shooting for 14 or 15 hours … it seemed perfectly reasonable that anyone would collapse.” Yes, shooting — especially for television — can involve truly brutal hours.

“It was MS,” Christina Applegate then admitted. Nevertheless, she continued to work on the Netflix series through the third season – the time when she received her diagnosis.

“I just knew A, that she was scared, and B, that something was wrong … that something in her body wasn’t working the way she wanted it to,” Feldman explained. As the producer of the series, he was unsure of what to do.

“There’s no booklet for that,” he admitted. “I can’t compare it to any experience I’ve ever had with a person before.” Therefore, he “always tried to put [Christina Applegate’s] Health first in my mind” as they filmed.

The Netflix series was not as important as Christina Applegate and her health

Applegate praised how Feldman and the show’s crew went above and beyond to accommodate him. At one point, production stopped for a week while she recovered.

“It wouldn’t happen anywhere else, so my gratitude to you as a human being — because you have to be human and love other human beings — is amazing,” Applegate said.

She concluded: “I can’t even tell you … this is not a normal reaction.” But it really should be.
