Billionaire and RPG Group chairman Harsh Goenka also shared his views on X, taking a stand against the idea of workers working on Sundays.
“90 hours a week? Why not rename Sunday to ‘sun-duty’ and make ‘day off’ a myth!” he quipped. “Working hard and smart is what I believe in.” Yes, but turning life into a perpetual office shift is a recipe for burnout, not a work-life balance, it’s a must!”
In response to the growing rhetoric, an L&T spokesperson clarified the intent behind the chairman’s comments. “At L&T, nation building is at the core of our mandate. For more than eight decades, we have been shaping India’s infrastructure, industries and technological capabilities. The Chairman’s remarks reflect this great ambition, emphasizing that extraordinary results require extraordinary efforts. At L&T, we remain committed to fostering a culture where passion, purpose and performance drive us forward,” the spokesperson said.
