Birdfy has announced of Birdfy Bath ProA smart bird bath equipped with a camera that lets you watch your local birds as they slip into the water for a wash. The device has two lenses – a wide-angle one and an auto-tracking one – and an optional AI analytics feature that keeps track of bathers and summarizes them. It’s in pre-order now.
The onboard camera consists of a 2MP wide-angle lens that shoots at 1080p and a 3MP “portrait lens” with 2K resolution. It carries an IP66 waterproof rating, so it should be able to withstand bird droppings, rain and a direct blast from a water hose. But if you live somewhere cold, you should know that if the outside temperature drops below 14 degrees Fahrenheit (or minus 10 degrees Celsius) the camera may slow down or not start at all.
The fountain part comes with five interchangeable nozzles that Birdfy says create “attractive water patterns.” The Bath Pro will run you $249.99, or $299.99 including the stand. For another $50, you can also get a lifetime subscription to its AI analytics service that Birdfy says will identify birds and offer daily visitor counts and bird photo highlights. It also offers monthly recaps that rank your bath with other Birdify owners.
Rounding out its features is an integrated solar panel to keep the 9,000mAh battery topped up, cloud storage for videos and images, and Wi-Fi connectivity so you can watch the birds from your phone, “every flutter. Catching and sinking in real-time. ”
