A Canadian student’s jaw was broken after biting into a jaw-breaking candy

Jaw-breaking candies are notorious for their hardness, often causing injuries if bitten too quickly. A Canadian college student recently experienced the real truth behind his name.

Jawaria Wasim, a 19-year-old student, found himself in the hospital with a broken jaw after trying to bite into the rock-solid candy. As a result of the injury, he was unable to eat solid food for over a month.

While shopping with a friend, Javaria Wasim came across the iconic Jawbreaker candy, known for its rock-hard shell and large size — some almost as big as a snooker cue ball.

Before biting into this massive treat, the two even asked the shop owner if it was safe to do so. But when Wasim decided to give it a try, things went downhill fast.

“I hit it and just made a hole, and my jaw started hurting,” he said. Her friend immediately noticed that one of her teeth was loose, while another on the other side appeared damaged.

Moments after the incident, Waseem and his friend called an ambulance when they realized the damage had extended beyond his teeth. At the hospital, X-rays and a CT scan confirmed the worst: His jaw was broken, requiring emergency surgery the next day.
