Mariano Rivera and his wife, claraallegedly covered up child sexual abuse that took place at his home and at one of his church’s summer camps … according to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ Sports.
The blast allegations were spelled out in court documents filed this month in New York — and while neither Rivera nor his spouse are defendants in the lawsuit … they were both named repeatedly in the papers. is
Mother A Do The documents allege that his daughter, as a teenager ID’ itself Jane A Doewas convinced by Clara to travel to Florida in 2018 for an internship that her Refuge of Hope Church was helping to set up.
There, however, Mother A Doe alleges that Jane A Doe was sexually assaulted by a “much older camper” ID as “MG.” Mother A Doe says that after she learned of the possibility of abuse, she informed Clara.
According to the lawsuit, Clara assured Mother A. Doe that she would look into the situation. But, the documents state that when Clara and Mariano arrived at the camp, they “intimidated everyone and intimidated Jane A Doe into silence” to protect their church and its associated summer program.
Mother A Doe alleges Rivers then assured her that everything was fine … “despite actual or constructive knowledge that Jane A Doe remained vulnerable to additional acts of sexual abuse by MG.”
After returning to New York from Florida, Mother A. Doe claimed in her suit that Jane A. Doe was once again sexually assaulted by MG … this time at a barbeque that Rivers helped put on at their NY home. were staying Mother A Doe says Riveras and others “took no action to save” the girl from her abuser.
Mother A Doe says that years later, in 2021, Jane A Doe was sexually assaulted by a male adult who worked as a youth leader for the Riveras Refuge of Hope. Once again, Mother A Doe alleged that those associated with the church did not take proper steps to ensure her daughter’s safety.
Rivera pitched for the Yankees from 1995 to 2013 — and finished his career as the all-time closer. In retirement, he became a pastor at Refuge of Hope, where his wife served as overseer of the daily opus. independent reported on Wednesday.
Neither Mariano nor Clara have commented publicly on the allegations in the lawsuit.
