Judge Mathis threatened to shoot a city worker because a dump truck was blocking his driveway … at least according to a new lawsuit.
In the docs, obtained by TMZ, a person named Ricardo Acosta Claims he was employed by the LA Department of Water and Power in July 2023, working outside Mathis’ home when he says the TV judge started swearing at him.
Acosta claims Mathis was pulling out of his garage in his car, then got out of the vehicle and began firing profanity-laced shots … yelling at Acosta to “get the f***** truck out of the way.” started
The city worker claims that Mathis was standing behind the dump truck at the time and says that he asked Mathis to step behind the truck for safety reasons… because he was concerned that the truck would shift when he put it in gear. If it had gone, it would have retreated because it was standing. an inclination
Acosta claims that Mathis told her that she “didn’t give a f*** and to run and see what happens to her.” He says Mathis then told him he had something for him and ran into the house and came back with a gun.
In the documents, Acosta claims Mathis brandished a weapon and said, “I’m going to bust a hat … you want to fight me.” He says Mathis then got back in the car and drove off, but not before threatening again to “smash the cap.”
Acosta is suing Mathis for assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress… and he’s going after Mathis for damages.
The lawsuit follows a story that broke in July 2023… when law enforcement sources told us that an LADWP employee complained to police, Mathis accused of threatening workers After a heated confrontation with a gun.
Attorney for Judge Mathis, Anahita Sedaghatfar tells TMZ … “This unfiled complaint that has conveniently been aired publicly is a last ditch effort by Mr. Acosta to extort my client, Judge Mathis, for financial gain. In fact occurred during the incident, which occurred a year ago.”
She continued, “The report to the LAPD by Mr. Acosta’s superiors contained numerous demonstrable falsehoods, while also admitting that Judge Mathis was threatened by Mr. Acosta and his associates for his own safety and that of his family. There was fear for safety. They falsely imprisoned Judge Mathis on his own personal property.”
She adds, “That the LAPD did not even investigate Mr. Acosta’s claims demonstrates their lack of competence. If Mr. Acosta should pursue this lawsuit, we will not only vigorously defend this case. We will file a cross claim against Mr. Acosta for his unlawful conduct and repeated defamation of my client.
